RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY IN COOPERATION

BASQUE ALLIANCE FOR R&D

We respond to the socio-economic challenges of the Basque Country through research and technology, with international scope and visibility. We collaborate in the generation of knowledge and its transfer to Basque society and industry to make them more innovative and competitive.

EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY

We define a research agenda that formulates the most relevant socio-economic challenges in the areas of smart industry, cleaner energy, personalised health and healthy food. Through this agenda, we respond to these challenges through research and technology.

BRTA promotes collaboration, excellence, specialisation and critical mass in R&D to respond to the challenges of the Basque Country in a context of demographic-social, technological-digital and energy-environmental transition.

We are an alliance of 17 technology centres and cooperative research centres: Azterlan, Azti, Ceit, CIC bioGUNE, CIC biomaGUNE, CIC energiGUNE, CIC nanoGUNE, Cidetec, Gaiker, Ideko, Ikerlan, Leartiker, Lortek, Neiker, Tecnalia, Tekniker and Vicomtech, with the support of the Basque Government, SPRI and the Provincial Councils of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

Our main goals are to improve the competitiveness of companies and to achieve a more innovative society. We work to create a high impact on our socio-economic environment through the transfer of the knowledge generated at the BRTA centres, by means of the coordination and the sum of capacities.

BRTA works with companies, offering them our knowledge in the form of scientific-technological solutions so that they can face the challenges of the market. We stimulate the take-up of research results through patents or the creation of new technology-based companies.
